Mrs.Smits’ class is back to growing fins at the High School Aquatic Center! It’s time to spring some fins this season. Our gym teacher Mr.Robinson is teaching us new strokes and new exercises like the side stroke. At at free time we get to slide down the slide, run across the lily pads, and be lazy in the Lazy River (but I call it the “crazy river”). There is a new basketball hoop too! Bye!

We have been exploring websites for kids. There are many websites out on the internet that kids learn, explore, connect with other kids, and play!
My choice is a website that has interesting facts about animals and the earth. Also there are videos, games, stories, recipes, crafts, pictures, activities, and more!
I like it because I like websites that are educational and fun.

We have been working on book talks for our Holmes Book Fair.
I read and wrote a book talk Palace of Mirrors.
By Margaret Peterson Haddix.
It is fantasy and it is about a peasant girl who is a true princess but she is in hiding and she goes on an adventure to take back her throne.

I have a book baggie book that I can read independently. I want to share some information with you about my book. The title of my book is Breaking Dawn (Twilight series). It is written by Stephenie Meyer. This story is about a girl who falls in love with a boy named Edward which is a vampire, and Bella hopes to be one too. Soon Bella finds out that her dream is about to come true. Now she is excilerated that she will be with him for eternity. It takes place in Forks, Washington. One of my favorite characters is Renesmee because she is intelligent, cute, and very funny. I would recommend this book because it is suspensful and romantic.

This week we celebrated our writing! I wrote a personal narrative titled,”Five Year Olds Worst”. I want to share it with you. Click on my name below and you can hear me read it.
Thanks for letting me share it with you!

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day we wrote our own I have a dream speeches! It was really fun and I enjoyed it. Also mine is about world peace. But before you listen to my speech here is a few interesting facts about Martin Luther King Jr.
Did you know?
Martin Luther King Jr.’s I have a dream speech was presented on August 28,1963 at the Lincoln Memorial.
Martin Luther King Jr.’s real name was Michael until he changed it to Martin.
Martin Luther King Jr. was killed on the date of April 14,1968.
Now here is my speech.

In November we went swimming at the Aquatic Center in the Spring Lake High School. We learned different ways to swim and we got to play in the Family Aquatic Room! We slid down the slippery water slide, whirled around in the whirl pool, and drenched our self from the giant water bucket. Those are just some of the fun things we did. We are planning to go back in spring! Yea!

Mr.Robinson(gym teacher) teaches our fourth grade class to do a few different yoga poses. This includes the turtle, the wide boat, and the polar bear. Here are directions for learning a few new yoga poses.

The Tree
1. Lift one of your legs and gently place your foot on your othet knee. 2. Hands together raise your arms up in the air making an upsidown V shape. 3. Reach your armsout on oppposite sides of your body with your fingers spreaded out.
